Deadly Whites

One of the easiest ways to improve your eating habits and lose unwanted weight is to avoid the “deadly whites”.

The “deadly whites” include white sugar, white flour, white rice, white potatoes, white flour pasta and alcohol. These are very inexpensive to produce and they have a very long shelf-life. They are found in abundance in our food supply partly because they have a very high profit –margin for suppliers. The sugar tastes good and is very addictive providing a quick “high”.

These foods are “empty calories”. This means that they provide simple carbohydrates that easily store as excess energy while providing no micro-nutrients. Most people do not realize that the body must call on it’s own supply of both B vitamins and calcium in order to digest and process the white sugar in food. In that sense white sugar is an anti-vitamin.

The “whites” also contribute to wide fluctuations in blood sugar levels. The cycle goes like this: You are hungry (low blood sugar levels), You drink a cola and grab a donut. (Blood sugar level goes UP). The body pumps out a lot of insulin to bring the blood sugar back into balance and the blood sugar level goes too low (low blood sugar levels). This is a very dangerous process for the body. Unstable blood sugar levels contribute to a lot of problems. Depression, anxiety, behavioral problems, rage, insomnia, irritability and fatigue as well as hormonal problems, diabetes, and heart disease are just a few of the many problems that have unstable blood sugar as a contributing factor.

What do I eat? Fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains like oatmeal and brown rice, nuts and seeds, lean meats and eggs. Water! Protein bars with about 15 grams of protein in them (Zone Bars). Great –Great Grandma’s Diet. If you can pick it or shoot it you can eat it. Forget all the modern refining and added chemicals. Eat smaller “meals” and snacks and eat 5-6 times of day. Try this for one month and you will be amazed at the results.
